In the production process, the mold copper plate must continuously withstand the impact of high temperature, high pressure and strong friction, and the working environment is extremely harsh. Therefore, the surface quality of the mold copper plate directly affects the product quality, production efficiency and production cost of the continuous casting process. The problems of electroplating and thermal spraying, the abrasion resistance of the reinforced layer is poor, the surface life of the copper crystal is low, no metallurgical bond is formed between the coating and the copper substrate, and it is easy to fall off after repeated impact.

Strengthening of the working surface of the continuous casting mold copper plate—the laser cladding method is used to strengthen the cladding of the hard alloy material on the surface of the copper plate with the following characteristics:

2. The cladding thickness can reach 1.5mm;
3. The cladding coating has no defects such as cracks and non-fusion;
4. The hardness of the cemented carbide layer is greater than 60HRC;
5. The hard alloy layer has excellent wear resistance, high temperature resistance, and thermal fatigue resistance;
6. Metallurgical combination with copper substrate, the bonding strength exceeds 300Mpa;
7. Compared with electroplating and thermal spraying, the life can be increased by 2 to 4 times.
